Museumdorp Orvelte: experience Drenthe as it once was
Step back in time in the charming museum village of Orvelte. Wander through historic streets, admire centuries-old Saxon farmhouses and discover what everyday life in Drenthe used to be like.
There is plenty for all ages to enjoy, from traditional crafts and unusual museums to fun activities for children. Take a ride on the horse-drawn tram, enjoy nature and settle down on a welcoming terrace for a bite to eat or a drink.
Orvelte is not an ordinary museum, but a village that brings history to life. A day out full of surprises for the whole family!
Orvelte's historic centre is car-free, so you can stroll peacefully through its charming streets and past its historic farmhouses. Cars stay on the outskirts of the village. Visitors can park in one of the two paid car parks and easily walk into the village from there.
Dogs are welcome in the village as long as they are kept on a lead and do not cause a nuisance. Please bear in mind that dogs are not allowed inside everywhere, including some museums, shops and places to eat and drink.
